Presentation
The Royal Opera continues its successful partnership with the Centre des Monuments Nationaux at the Abbey of Thoronet, a collaboration that began in 2023, and continues to bring voices and instruments to life in this historically rich and significant venue.
Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, composed in 1736, is one of the most iconic works of Baroque music, having left a profound mark on the musical world of the 18th century, particularly in France. In contrast, Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, more modest in scope, remains one of the composer’s most renowned pieces.
The Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal was established in December 2019 in Versailles. Bringing together some of Europe’s finest musicians from the most prestigious ensembles and orchestras, the orchestra is dedicated to supporting the artistic projects staged at the Royal Opera and working alongside the guest artists invited to perform.
Chloé de Guillebon, a gifted young harpsichordist and laureate of several international competitions, including first prize at the Lauxmin International Competition in Vilnius in 2020, will conduct the orchestra for this memorable evening.
